Boat Access to Ballston Lake

New Kayak Launch is Open

May 2023 - The new and improved kayak launch and fishing pier is now open to the public.  There is no charge, a service of the town of Ballston. You will have to carry your kayak to the end of the pier, but it is designed to be easy to put in and take out. The facilities are wheelchair accessible, even for kayaks.  The facility is located on Outlet Road, the north end of Ballston Lake, and a parking lot and outhouse are nearby.

Finnigan's Launch is Open

May 2024 - The boat launch at Finnigan’s On The Lake (Formerly Villago), at 175 Lake Road, on Ballston Lake is now open. The owner has made considerable improvements this spring. The launch site and boat parking areas are private property. Fees are necessary to pay for the maintenance and insurance for the launch site. The parking fee for a vehicle and a boat is $20.  Parking fee for vehicles only (kayaks/canoes) is $10.  For more information, here is a link to their website.

Boaters are reminded they may not park at the launch site. After launching, all vehicles must be moved to the parking lot behind the restaurant, all the way back, which is marked to accommodate 8 trailers. Cars without trailers should be parked along the fence by the dumpsters. A black, locked box with instructions for fees and registration is located in the parking lot behind the restaurant.

There is absolutely no launching before 6 am. Personal watercraft (jet skis) may not use the launch at the Finnigan site. There is no fishing from the docks. Lake residents may pay a one-time fee of $20 and may use the launch (but not the parking lot) throughout the season. Please keep the launch and parking area clean and take any trash home for disposal.

When the lake level is above flood stage we encourage smart boating and urge you to keep down your wake to protect the shoreline.  The launch may close when the lake level is very high.
