Boat Access to Ballston Lake
Kayak Launch is Closed

May 2022 - Eric Connolly, Ballston Supervisor writes: The damage to the pier was fairly sudden and substantial. The ice thaw and freeze damaged and weakened most of the pier. We must follow NYS guidelines which involve going to RFP (request for professional services) a.k.a have an engineering firm draw up the plans to remove, replace, and inspect the work – then we must go out to bid on the work (which requires a window of time for contractors to bid on the work). Then your town board has to pass a resolution awarding the bid. Then the demolition by one company takes place (inspected by the engineering firm). Then the new pier gets installed and inspected. This timeline will take all summer. Your Town Board has been on top of this process since day one and will continue to push for a full replacement with an improved kayak/canoe launch. All aluminum and composite material. It will be a floating system to prevent future ice damage. The estimated cost of all this work will be around $250,000 (we have enough funds in our parkland deposits fund to cover this).
Finnigan's Launch is Open

May 2022 - The boat launch at Finnigan’s on the Lake (Formerly Villago), at 175 Lake Road, on Ballston Lake is now open. The launch site and boat parking areas are private property. Fees are necessary to pay for the maintenance and insurance for the launch site. The Parking rates for a vehicle and a boat vary from $15 on weekdays to $25 on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Parking fees for vehicles only (kayaks/canoes) vary from $10 during the week to $20 on weekends and holidays. Boaters are reminded they may not park at the launch site. After launching, all vehicles must be moved to the parking lot behind the restaurant, all the way back, which is marked to accommodate 8 trailers. Cars without trailers should be parked along the fence by the dumpsters. A black, locked box with instructions for fees and registration is located in the parking lot behind the restaurant. There is absolutely no launching before 6 am. Personal watercraft (jet skis) may not use the launch at the Finnigan site. There is no fishing from the docks. Lake residents may pay a one-time fee of $20 and may use the launch (but not the parking lot) throughout the season. Please keep the launch and parking area clean and take any trash home for disposal.
