June 2016 Newsletter: Ballston Creek Preserve

June 21, 2016

If you haven’t visited the rookery on the Ballston Creek Preserve, put it on your “Must Do” list this spring! The preserve, in the Town of Ballston, contains approximately 1 mile of trails on 33 acres, and is best known for its incredible views overlooking the rookery. To visit, park at Shenentaha Park and walk 22 yards north on Eastline Road (back towards Route 67/Stewart’s). A Saratoga P.L.A.N. sign marks the trail head on the left side of the road. BE CAREFUL crossing Eastline!

Fun Fact - Despite their impressive size, Great Blue Herons weigh only 5 to 6 pounds thanks in part to their hollow bones—a feature all birds share.
