We had hoped to hear about our reduced rate bonding by the end of May, but this has been delayed.
One potential positive development has occurred regarding grants. Previously we did not qualify for many grants because of the average income in our town and the fact that the State was targeting specific situations such as towns where storm water problems overwhelm the system causing sewage to dump into rivers. The state has very recently opened up the rules for this year's grants so that we now qualify to apply. Our project engineer has developed the grant application and at the Town Board meeting on May 31 the board authorized its submission.
The grant we have applied for could be as much as 25% of the project cost which obviously would be a huge benefit. Of course we could also not receive anything. At this point we honestly have no idea what our prospects are but we have done our best to give ourselves the opportunity.
