June 2016 Newsletter: State Agency’s Lake Steward Award-BLIA’s Dave Pierce

The New York State Federation of Lake Associations, Inc. (NYSFOLA) presented its 2016 Lake Steward Award to Ballston Lake Improvement Association’s Board Member and Lake Management Committee Chair to Dave Pierce at the recent NYSFOLA Annual Meeting. The award is presented annually to a NY state lake association volunteer who has gone above and beyond the call of duty
for his/her lake association. “Dave has worked tirelessly in his efforts to preserve and improve the quality of the waters of Ballston Lake and to provide education about the water quality and preservation efforts needed to sustain a lake resource,” said BLIA president, Peter Herman.
“Dave’s science background has been a critical asset in the process of testing and analyzing the water quality of Ballston Lake. I have no doubt that Dave’s meticulous records and data contributed tremendously to the success of a recent Town of Ballston and Town of Clifton Park referendum approving the funds for a sewer system ringing Ballston Lake. We are so appreciative of his time and talent and pleased to congratulate him on this prestigious NYSFOLA honor.” Dave works regularly with the Saratoga County Soil and Water Conservation District to address issues that deal directly with the Ballston Lake Watershed. He and his wife Ann are regular attendees at Town of Ballston Town Board meetings, monitoring and providing input to the town board on agenda issues that potentially impact Ballston Lake. He has worked with the town to establish a detailed Ballston Lake water shed area.
Thanks to you, Dave, and congratulations on a well deserved award.
