This will be my final newsletter message for our Lake Association as your Ballston Lake Improvement Association President. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve Ballston Lake in this capacity for more than 25 years, However, it is time to step down and allow someone else to assume the duties.
As time has passed, more and more friends and neighbors have understood the changes that are taking place on and in the lake environment. The BLIA has grown substantially over the past twenty five years to address these changes. It is amazing for me to see the effort our members are making to serve the Lake in so many different ways. There is, however, an ever increasing need for your support to keep Ballston Lake the beautiful gem we all can enjoy.
The spirit of BLIA is excellent, the future is bright, but will depend on the continued efforts of this Lake community. I will miss working with the great folks that make up this group, both past and present. It is a special team of concerned and hard working members.
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!
Sincerely, Pete Herman
Boat Inspections- While BLIA will not be scheduling boat inspections on Ballston Lake this summer with the Mohawk Hudson Sail and Power Squadron, there is still an opportunity to have your boat inspected to see if it meets the NYS requirements – free of charge. The US Coast Guard Auxiliary maintains a “Vessel Safety Check” website http://cgaux.org/vsc/ . There is a link on this page to find an examiner that will visit you, at no charge and with no consequence if you don’t pass. (Remember, there IS a fine if you are stopped
by the Saratoga County Sheriff on the water and don’t meet the inspection requirements). There are several examiners in our area and you will be contacted once the request has been submitted through their website.
A reminder… if you are an early morning boater, fisherman or jet skier, please be courteous to the many kayakers and canoeists who are out then, AND be on the watch for the increasing number of long distance swimmers that train on our lake at that hour.
Please mark your calendar for the Ballston Lake Improvement Association Annual Meeting.

sending the float off for the last several years, will be out of town on June 13. Suzanne Bishop has stepped up to volunteer for this fun task. For details about where and when we muster our scallywags, be in touch with Suzanne at kwenebishop@gmail.com
